I got the idea in the last day or two, rather than make resolutions that won't be kept, to create a road map for my year. A direction I want to go. And the thought came to me to choose 1 thing a month to work on. If I work on 1 thing for 30 days, it should be mastered by that point. So, here is my list, in no particular order, except number 1.
#1. Master my time. I've known for awhile this is an area that could use major improvement. So, I am writing publicly for all of my 9 and a half followers, ;-) that for the month of January, I will do my best to rise no later than 6 am, 5 days a week. To go to bed no later than 10pm, 5 days a week. And to leave my house 30 minutes early for any local event. Those are my 3 biggest challenges. And since I am a hopeless time optimist (I always think I have more time and can fit 5,280 things into my life before I have to leave). And it never works. So, go to bed early, wake up early. Be on time.
#2. Master my studies. I am an insatiable student. Just ask my husband. I cannot possibly learn everything I want to, but like in number 1, I think I can. So for February, unless one of the next 10 seems more important, I want to have better mastery of my studies. (This fits in with time). I want to focus on spiritual learning first. Mentoring I am receiving. My school studies. And a little time for frivolous study. I will pare down my email list and my facebook list to keep me from being distracted.
#3. Master my thoughts/words. This is step one in what I will be teaching others about success this year. (More on that later). I have a very good start on this since I actively work on it continuously. My words are more positive than negative. I now believe my thoughts are more positive than negative. But, I'm too quick to be critical of others I disagree with. And on occasion, I'm too quick to complain when things aren't just right. So, I need a month of fine tuning for my thought. The focus will be on biting my tongue when I feel like speaking critically or negatively. And attempting to reframe those negatives into positives. I remember my 21 day no complaint challenge. It took me 60 days. I think the second time around will be easier.
#4 and 5. Master my emotions/health. This one seems overwhelming since I've discovered I'm a Highly Sensitive Person. But, I suspect it may be partially diet related. So, this may be Master my heart and Master my body and last 60 days. I've actually already started this. But if I don't have it tightened up by April, this will be the time to do it.
And that is going to be part 1, because I need to go pack and it's almost midnight. But I'll post the others next week.
